As we near the end of Q3 this year, construction on Stage 1 of Highett Common has been making quick progress, bringing residents one step closer to life at Highett Common’s 9.3 hectare precinct.
This month we caught up with our construction team at SK Construction to find out more about the recent developments on site in Highett.
Civil works
Our contracting partners at Delta Group are now approximately 95 percent complete with civil and infrastructure works in Stage 1. Works continue on internal roads with concrete kerb installation and preparation for the base coarse of asphalt.
The finalisations of the site’s NBN plan and network design was submitted in June and is now approved and certified as NBN compliant ensuring future residents can stay connected.
Further infrastructure works have been completed including footpaths at the south end of the precinct, retaining walls, Stage 1 substation installation, and the street lighting poles have been installed and are operational.
Early works
Delta Group will remain on-site to oversee the final elements of the early works.
The bulk excavation of the Stage 1 basement has now completed with foundation works at 90 percent complete to North Lane’s basement. Wall concreting is now at 90 percent completion and waterproofing underway at North Lane.
Main works
The primary work on-site continued to take strides in July and August with the concrete structure of Park House completing mid-August. Park house has now reached Level 5 and it is expected to top-out in the coming weeks.
Formwork stripping is now underway to the whole building. The Ground level, levels 1, 2, and 3 have been completely stripped.
Plumbing and electrical services rough-in is also underway in Park House from the basement level up to level 3. Apartment wall set-out has commenced to the ground floor apartments as well as apartments located on levels 1 and 2.
Additionally, the trade lettings process has reached approximately 70 percent completion, indicating strong engagement with our trade partners. This progress ensures that we have the necessary resources and expertise to drive the project forward.
Windows for Park House are currently being manufactured and will be fitted in the coming year.
The project site office construction continues with installation of the plumbing and electrical completed and walls being plastered. These offices will serve as the operational hub for our project management team and facilitate efficient coordination and communication.
