Construction Update: Stage 1 Delivered as Stage 3 Gains Momentum

April 2026

Civil Works & Parkland

Civil works across the precinct are now complete, marking a major milestone for the project. The central park and surrounding landscaped areas are also complete and now open to residents and the public, bringing the vision for green open space at Highett Common to life.

Work is also progressing on the three-hectare conservation reserve, known as the Highett Grassy Woodland. This protected native grassy woodland is currently undergoing restoration and regeneration works, with new pathways and boardwalks to provide public access. Bayside City Council are targeting it to open to the public next month in May, at which point it will become a significant natural feature within the precinct.

Stage 1 – North Lane (Building G) & Park House (Building J)

Stage 1 has now settled, with residents moved into North Lane and Park House as the community continues to take shape. Minor outstanding works and purchaser defect rectification are progressing alongside final completion activities.

Stage 3 – The Mews Collection – Park Release (Building I) & Lightwood Release (Building F)

Construction across Stage 3 is advancing well, with both buildings currently tracking ahead of program.

At Building I, the structure topped out in late March, with formwork stripping now complete to the underside of Level 6. Services rough-in is progressing through the basement levels and into the lower floors.

At Building F, the Level 3 structure has been completed, with Basement Two fully stripped and Basement One nearing completion. Structural works continue to progress steadily.

Works are now underway across multiple trades, including services installation, plastering, external cladding, window framing and waterproofing. The majority of major subcontract packages have been secured, with remaining trades currently in final procurement.

While the joinery package was finalised later than anticipated, the project team is actively managing procurement and installation to minimise any impact to the overall program.

Stage 3 – Habitat (Building K | Early Works)

Early works for Habitat are now underway. Preparation of the piling platform has been completed, with piling works scheduled to commence in late April.

Key subcontract packages, including basement retention, precast structure and fire services, have been finalised, with procurement of remaining services trades ongoing.

Design development of a rationalised façade system is also in progress, which is expected to support efficiencies in the external construction program.

Construction at Highett Common continues to move forward with strong progress across all stages, as the precinct evolves into a well-connected, parkland-focused community.
