Another month, another exciting update from the SK Construction team on-site at Highett Common! With the first residents set to move in later this year, we’re making significant strides towards realising the vision for a masterplanned, and sustainability-led community in Melbourne’s Bayside.
Civil Works
Early infrastructure works are now largely complete, with only minor finishing touches remaining to meet early building requirements.
Together with our civil construction partner, Delta Group, we’ve shifted focus to bringing Highett Common’s first park to life. Cut and fill works are nearly finished, ensuring a level foundation, while inground drainage is well underway.
Work has also commenced on retaining walls alongside footpaths, a key step in assisting drainage and minimising erosion or blockages to walkways that will connect residents with one another throughout the precinct.
Stage One Works
As we progress further into 2025, construction efforts are accelerating across multiple key buildings within the precinct.
Building J, known as ‘Park House’, is one of two main buildings that form Highett Common’s first stage.
Following the topping-out ceremony last October, Park House progress has continued at a steady pace with recent milestones including:
- Apartment wall set out completed
- External wall framing finalised from ground to level six
- Internal wall framing progressing from the ground floor through to level four
Level six of Stage One’s ‘North Lane’ building saw the successful completion of concrete pouring work, marking a crucial step in its foundational work.
Additionally, we are seeing significant progress across several other elements, including:
- Plaster work commencing across levels one to three
- External cladding installation ongoing
- Windows being installed from the ground floor to level five
- Lift equipment arrival on-site and shaft works commencing
- Joinery production is underway at the Port Melbourne warehouse
- Project site office completed and fully operational
The Next Phases of Construction
Stage 2, The Townhomes, is moving forward, with design documentation in progress and construction set to begin this year.
In addition, Highett Common’s recently announced next phase, Stage 3 The Mews Collection, is officially in motion and primed to commence early basement works in the very near future. The preparation of piling platforms marks a crucial step towards the start of vertical construction in The Mews Collection, which will reach six levels upon completion.
In alignment with our projected timelines, Highett Common is set to welcome its first residents within the next six months, offering them not only a brand-new home but also access to the precinct’s first 1 hectare community park and playground.
There’s truly never been a better time to discover the lifestyle on offer, with a significant portion of residences at Highett Common eligible for stamp duty savings and select apartments eligible to receive a furniture and styling package courtesy of Coco Republic, valued at $12k.
